Lady GaGa Recalls Feeling ‘Traumatized’ By Fame — ‘I Needed A Moment To Stabilize’

Lady GaGa Recalls Feeling ‘Traumatized’ By Fame — ‘I Needed A Moment To Stabilize’:

lady-gaga-talks-mental-health-new-interv

Lady GaGa has openly talked about mental health in the past, and with the release of her new single, Perfect Illusion, she's opening up even more about her struggle with depression and anxiety.

In a new interview with The Mirror, the pop songstress recalled feeling "traumatized" after skyrocketing to fame, even revealing she's still taking meds for it.

Related: GaGa Gets Cheeky In London!

The starlet shared:

"I needed a moment to stabilize. When my career took off, I don't remember anything at all. It's like I'm traumatized. I needed time to re-calibrate my soul."
As you probably know, GaGa took a couple years off after releasing her last solo album Artpop in 2013.

And while she shares her rise to the top was "the single greatest blessing of my artistic career," the 30-year-old remembered feeling "exhausted - like I was dying."

The mental health activist has since put herself first, adding "I definitely look after my well-being":

"I take medication. I'm not saying I feel good because of the medication - I wouldn't encourage young people to take anti-depressants or mood stabilizers... I openly admit to having battled depression and anxiety and I think a lot of people do. I think it's better when we all say: ‘Cheers!' And ‘fess up to it."
The Grammy winner has been completely candid about her personal battle, and even after her split from fiancé Taylor Kinney, the celeb says she feels "good."

On top of that, the New York native is also glad to be in her 30s now:

"I wanted to leave my 20s, immediately. I was like, ‘Thanks, I get it. You're young, you're crazy, you're wild. Goodbye.'"
While not much has exactly changed, GaGa explained:

"I find in my 30s, I haven't actually calmed down. I calm down for periods of time and then I'm actually worse - I'm more wild for a short period of time. It's a little bit of both. But 30 is fantastic because I feel like I have all the wisdom of my 20s."
Well, we're sure her little Monsters will be glad to hear she's doing well and embracing this new chapter!

We can't begin to imagine what Alexis Arquette's loved ones are currently going through.

As we previously reported, the longtime actress and transgender activist passed away on Sunday, September 11. Arquette was only 47 years old. So sad!

Alexis, who starred in various hits like The Wedding Singer and Bride Of Chucky, first started working in the industry at 12 years old. Not to mention, the late LGBT influencer was siblings with Oscar winner Patricia Arquette and A-lister David Arquette. Alexis' siblings have since commented on the untimely passing on Twitter (below).

As you may know, Ellen DeGeneres is thankfully back on the air with her hit talk show and what's even better is she is up to her normal shenanigans with guests like Celine Dion!

The Las Vegas singer stopped by the comedienne's show, and the host OF COURSE had to take the opportunity to have Dion sing a bit!

Being the HIGHlarious woman she is, Ellen switched things up though and had Celine sing the lyrics to rap and pop songs like Britney Spears' Work B*tch and Missy Elliott's Work It!

Aside from fun and games, the songstress also sat down with DeGeneres and opened up a little bit about the loss of her husband, René Angélil, and joked that her kids are "wonderful pieces of luggage" that her husband gave her. Awww, LOLz!

Open Post: Hosted By A Canadian Traffic Sign Warning Of A Zombie Dick Invasion:

Screen Shot 2016-09-11 at 2.57.33 PM

If I had a vagina, I want to know when I need to protect it! Instagram user thesweetwoods posted this video of a hacked traffic sign in Ottawa. It warns ladies (there are no gay zombies?) about zombie dicks in the area. I’m assuming the warning means reanimated dead people and not that horny ancients like Hugh Hefner and Larry King are visiting Canada. The sign urges the women of Ottawa to protect their vagines and, if they are going to let the staggering undead into their intimacies, to use condoms. This is a socially responsible message that I can get behind!

I always thought you would be able to tell a zombie right off and walk quickly away to escape them. Do Canadian zombies look different? Canada is so advanced. They have Allison, poutine, and now undetectable zombies. Maybe that shouldn’t be considered an “advancement,” though.

Brad Pitt Compared Mel Gibson’s “The Passion Of The Christ” To Scientology Propaganda

Brad Pitt Compared Mel Gibson’s “The Passion Of The Christ” To Scientology Propaganda:

In one fell interview swoop, Brad Pitt dragged both rageball Mel Gibson’s Jesus-in-a-snuff film, 2004’s The Passion of the Christ AND L. Ron Hubbard’s alien volcano con job religion Scientology. When you’re A-list and Angelina Jolie’s purse carrier, your fucks are not to be given!

In that same interview T magazine (via Indiewire) where he shared his thoughts about Donald Trump, Brad mentioned that he wants to do a movie about Pontius Pilate noting that it “won’t be for the ‘Passion’ crowd. The Passion of the Christ was Mad Mel’s hyper-violent telling of the Crucifixion of Jesus story that some felt was anti-Semitic. Mel Gibson telling a story where Jewish people are the villains? Preposterous! Anyway, Bonghit Brad felt that it was a little skewed.

When James mentions that “The Passion of the Christ” drove him out of the church, Pitt laughs and responds, “I felt like I was just watching an L. Ron Hubbard propaganda film.”
Putting down his one hitter pipe to simultaneously slap Sugartits Spandex-Hater AND The Tom Cruise Church of Present-Day Taints in their faces gets a slow clap from me. Brad did mention that he thought Mel does violence “extremely well” (Oksana Grigorieva probably doesn’t appreciate that aspect of Mel’s many talents) and that he liked his ancient Mayan chase flick, 2006’s Apocalypto.

Suffice to say, it’s doubtful that Brad and Mel will be working together anytime soon. Mel’s not worried, he’s already got his next co-raging dick lined up. An insulted Tom Cruise has revoked the lifetime membership pass to the Scientology Celebrity Centre Bathhouse (it’s laminated with an overlay of a saucy John Travolta holding the electrodes of an e-meter in a suggestive manner) that he presented Brad with (along with a knowing wink) on the first day of filming Interview with the Vampire.

Taylor Swift Continues To Be Shady

Taylor Swift Continues To Be Shady:

I wrote this song, damnit! I’m allloowweeedd to sing along! I’m just a girl having fun!Taylor Swift (seen above looking like Sailor Moon’s luxe older sister having bathroom difficulties) attended the NYC Fashion Week debut of her friend and fellow Snake Squad member Gig Hadid’s clothing line yesterday. The show, a collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, was officially titled “The TommyXGigi Show.” Per usual, it was actually “A Taylor Swift Moment feat. Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger.” She knows what she’s doing. Which is why she sang along to “This Is What You Came For,” the song she wrote for her contentious ex Calvin Harris to record with Rihanna, during the show.

Witness:

— Nicole Evatt (@NicoleEvatt) September 9, 2016
(Can I pause for a moment to note that People using “squad member” as the primary identifier for Gigi Hadid gives me the same feels as when people refer to a pregnant woman’s “bump.” Those two terms occupy the same place in my colon as over the moon does in Michael K.’s. It’s not a good feeling. Thank you.)

Taylor Snapchatted and Instagrammed away as she chair-danced and threw shade at her whiny ex. If you’ll recall, Tay Tay revealed that she wroteThis Is What You Came For” under an alias (“Nils Sjöberg“) after they broke up as an umbrella tilt in her ex’s direction. Unfortunately, Calvin still hasn’t parked the wah-mbulance.

Swifty was front row with Gigi’s mother, celebrity lyme disease sufferer Yolanda Foster, and her other model friend, Martha Hunt. Did Martha mop those pants from Smee?

Here she is congratulating Gigi after the show in a totally intimate moment that could have probably happened backstage. See if you can spot Tommy Hilfiger jumping in the background and trying to be seen while screaming “It’s me! I’m here, too!

— Taylor Swift Web (@TaySwiftdotcom) September 10, 2016
In other Swifty news, Hadid let ET know that Taylor is currently working on No, I Dumped Him: The Album new music. This was Taylor’s first public appearance since she broke up with Tom “Double O Desperation” Hiddleston.

“She’s obviously such a great friend, and you know she is starting to go back to work in the studio again, and really made time to be here for me, and I am so grateful for that,” the 21-year-old model shared.”
Please let the cover to her next record be a photo of that tank top crumpled in the sand.

Some Ladies Threw A Lime At Solange

Some Ladies Threw A Lime At Solange:

Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles took to Twitter last night to tell the tale of the time she and her family were at a Kraftwerk show in New Orleans when some nasty ladies told her to sit down and stop dancing. And threw a lime at her. Wait, what? I’m gonna let Solange step in here in a sec. I’m also going to give her the “cool mom” stamp for taking her kid to a Kraftwerk show.

(For those of you not in the know, the German band Kraftwerk is kind of the prototype for every electronic music band or DJ in the world. They began in 1969! You can begin your journey on the “Autobahn” here.)

According to Solange, it all started with some dancing.

Let me tell you about why black girls / women are so angry….

I’m listening reading…

I took my son, his friend, and my husband to see Kraftwerk in New Orleans…

Was very excited to dance and enjoy a band I love.

4 older white women yell to me from behind, “Sit down now” . I tell them I’m dancing at a concert. They yell, “u need to sit down now”…

— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) September 10, 2016
I’m already siding with Solange on this one. Unless the person behind you is disabled or it’s chamber music, you’re at a damn show, people might be standing and dancing in front of you. Feel free to come for me on this one, I could be a party of two with Basement Baby here.

We are at an ELECTRONIC and DANCE music concert and you are telling…not asking me…to sit down. In front of my child.
— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) September 10, 2016
Here’s where I’m wondering if Solange brought her elevator game. Actually no, and she didn’t even invite a bitch INTO her elevator of beatdown despite someone hitting her in the back with a lime.

But in this moment, I’m just going to share my experience…

So that maybe someone will understand, why many of us don’t feel safe…

— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) September 10, 2016
…in many white spaces…
We don’t “bring the drama”….

Fix yourself.

— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) September 10, 2016
I mean…

My son just confirmed it was a lime. Smh https://t.co/5HnUOP85db

— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) September 10, 2016
The next time someone wastes delicious citrus fruit by hurling it at me, I’m going with “fix yourself” as well. That’s vitamin C. Or, at the very least, an orange slice for my pint of Blue Moon that’s now been lost. Asshole.

You can read about the entire incident and Solange’s thoughts about it on her Twitter account. Seriously, though, the heifers who were giving her shit for having a good time are extremely lucky that they didn’t hear a “ding” and see Solange come flailing out of her fight elevator at them. Jay-Z is probably still licking his wounds from that incident.

The Puzzle of Victoria Beckham, the Delight of J.Crew

The Puzzle of Victoria Beckham, the Delight of J.Crew:

I don’t really know what to make of Victoria Beckham.

On the one hand, I’m impressed that she has immunized herself from celebrity clothing label wrath. Her show is one of New York’s hottest tickets, she sure as shit commands the respect that any other reputable designer does and the actual garments do what they have to in order to maintain their status as The Fabric of Real Fashion.

Yet on the other hand, I wonder what Victoria Beckham brings to the table. The lines are so clean and silhouettes so pure that you almost feel like you have to be seated upright in the presence of her clothes. Make no mistake, that is power. But even in the wake of daring experimentation — full looks rendered completely in crushed velvet (some of which was impressively pleated), bras as shirts, boots for spring, floral prints! — what are we left with? It’s all sublime, but it’s also rather complacent. Do the clothes push us forward? Add anything to the conversation? Or are we left in a puddle of every passion-chaser’s biggest fear: indifference?

I’ve been conjecturing many hypotheses about the recent cultural obsession with Sex and the City but the one that seems most likely has everything to do with thoughtful style — the kind you must own and live and breathe, like you’re Carrie Bradshaw. Through the parade of severely bright, sometimes neon and often monochrome looks at Sies Marjan — another hot new ticket for New York, that’s all I could think. Low-slung pants, exposed bellies, uneven-hem slip dresses and droopy necklines held up by barely-there spaghetti straps were punctuated by exquisite fabrics. And the thing of it all (which reminded me somewhat of Narciso Rodriguez’s heyday but reprocessed, packaged and boosted to the umpteenth power) is that the clothes do the owning for you. No, they don’t wear the bodies that choose to engage, but they do carry the brunt of the work, doing the heavy emotional and intellectual lifting.

You’ve got to be very particular to wear the clothes of Sander Lak’s Sies Marjan (who is moving further from his former post at Dries Van Noten) and as far as I’m concerned, that’s the best thing New York Fashion Week can give us: particularity.

No question, though, the Delight of the Day came from J.Crew, who figured out exactly what’s been missing from fashion week. Because in spite of the season’s great clothes (it’s like shine theory, but for fashion), there’s a lack of soul, no question, that circumscribes the revolving end scenes. Jenna Lyons and co. tapped friends of the brand — some industry denizens, others just cool people — that brought with them that sometimes personal, always intimate touch of familiarity. Like you’re spending time with your best friend, which J.Crew is for so many of its loyalists. It was so satisfying to walk in and see people you recognize wearing clothes that you will no doubt wear next Spring. And the best part of the whole damn thing? It’s J.Crew! If you want it, you can have it.

J.Crew’s Important Wardrobe Life Lessons

J.Crew’s Important Wardrobe Life Lessons:

You know that feeling you get when you are running errands or shuffling to work and, totally unexpectedly, you bump into a friend?

Like a genuinely good friend who you hate canceling plans with, who you call when you’re bored because you know you can hang up on her the second a good show comes on and who you’d offer up a limb to if push came to shove.

That feeling — that burst of energy and genuine smiles and arms out for a hug regardless of how sweaty you are or how much crap you’re schlepping because you just have to grab this person and pull them into you — that was what it felt like to walk into J.Crew’s Spring 2017 presentation.

J.Crew cast a motley crew of their own friends: employees, recognizable industry faces, family of those who work for the brand. The result was a rainbow of body shapes and ages, of skin tones and hair styles and heights and personalities. Anyone could walk into J.Crew, look around, and either see someone who they absolutely love or someone who looks like them.

Now, ready for this season’s life lessons?

1) You need a white bow tie. You will know when the moment is right to wear it.

2) Khaki is backi, even though it never left.

3) If a blazer feels boring, make it a navy tuxedo jacket.

4) Stripes, stripes, stripes, stripes.

5) Pants could and should confuse the masses. They should be massive enough that they could pass for a skirt.

6) At least one pair of your spring pants should possibly be pink. Light pink.

7) T-shirts + silk skirts = magic.

8) Don’t say you can’t pull it off.

9) Remember that you are not too young, too old, too short, too tall, too wide, too narrow, too big, too small. You’re you.

10) You’re also severely lacking in sequins. Get on it.

Tibi Grows Up, DVF Gets Really Good Again

Tibi Grows Up, DVF Gets Really Good Again:

The clothes have been good this season, but the format feels weird. Though the weather is so delightful, there is a definite staleness in the air. Do all these designers need to show? Is it still about the clothes? What happens next?

diane-von-furstenberg-triple.jpg

Saturday’s lineup consisted largely of contemporary brands, the kinds of labels that New York fashion thrives on, but that ask most saliently whether it pays to show six months in advance. So far, though, so strong. Jonathan Saunders presented his first collection for Diane von Furstenberg in a large white space that somehow felt intimate and definitely about the clothes. I was, frankly, blown away. For a house that has been so deeply tied to its namesake — and for one that has weathered quite tumultuous feedback over the previous few seasons — Saunders injected a much-needed and profoundly welcome new breath of air. There were models seated above large blocks in a room that was divided by garment racks full of beautiful fabrics and colors sewn together to make the kind of clothes you both want to wear and know that you can.

The standout pieces for me were the skirt and white pants garnished by striped grosgrain ribbons and a couple of sequined dresses that will drop alongside leather jackets and fur stoles as soon as February. “For this season, it really needed to be about the clothes; touching them, seeing them up close,” Saunders said. “Maybe a show next season, but it wasn’t right this time.” – Leandra Medine

tibi-spring-summer-2017-man-repeller

This is a compliment, but for the last few season’s Tibi’s relaxed customer has been sitting at the breakfast table in her La Jolla studio, arranging dry Cheerios absentmindedly around a Céline ad while thinking about the morning’s waves, wondering whether she should try to get in another session after work. For Spring ’17, the same girl moved back to New York City, refreshed from her sabbatical and reinvigorated by the god-given excuse of Manhattan to dress up a little bit — even just to cross the street (slouchy surf shorts have been fun and all but man is it nice to reunite with your waist), ready to polish her brass knuckles so that they can punch through any and every career wall.

Designer Amy Smilovic ebbs and flows right with her customer; she may not predict the coming waves based off of some far-off vibration but she catches the trend, or the itch, or the feel, right at the apex of the wave and carries all of us — literally all of us, because everyone at that show was either in Tibi or looked Tibi-like — to the shore. How’d you like that for a metaphor? – Amelia Diamond

jonathan-simkhai-spring-summer-2017-triple-man-repeller

If Tibi is accommodating a woman who is best defined by the cues taken by Phoebe Philo’s Céline or new cult favorite Vetements, Jonathan Simkhai has her part sexy, part romantic counterpart (think Clare Waight-Keller’s Chloé) cornered. She’s wearing easy white dresses with ambitious embroidery, fabric-covered buttons and other embellishments. There are lacy silk pants, ditto that for negligee blouses and lightweight linen that looks plucked off the beaches of Ibiza and deliciously re-appropriated for wearing in New York. And this is all great, it’s not copy cattery.

I spent a lot of time shaking my head no at designers who seemed overly referential, but when push comes to shove, what is originality in this day and age? Why not celebrate the brilliant designers, who within the boundaries of their contemporary margins can metabolize the big ideas that churn overseas and then correctly commercialize them for the majority of customers?

So for Saturday, it was an order that we hone in not on brand-new ideas (they’re coming, don’t worry!), but instead on sincerely letting a trend live beyond its incipient runway shelf life. This way it has a chance to proliferate, and we get a chance to participate. – Leandra Medine

7 Things to Watch Today That Aren’t Fashion Shows

7 Things to Watch Today That Aren’t Fashion Shows:

boifeature

Maybe you’re already sick of watching runway shows? Or maybe not. It’s only the second day of New York Fashion Week. But maybe you’re far away or fashion fatigued or care less about the shows than the dust gathering on your potted plants. I, personally, am a little delirious and don’t know what I’m typing right now (maybe you already guessed that). All the more reason to queue up some INTERNET VIDEOS. As in, little baby movies that require nothing more than a tippy tap of the finger and a few minutes of your attention. Nothing more, nothing less. These are good ones, please trust me!

1 & 2! Ariana Grande and Jimmy Fallon play the best friend game, plus she performs:

Ariana Grande was on The Tonight Show Thursday and, in addition to looking cute with bangs, she played “the best friend game” with  Jimmy Fallon. It’s kind of like the newlywed game (REMEMBER THAT SHOW) but with besties, obviously. It’s funny because they 100% are not besties and basically know nothing about each other?

She also performed “Side to Side,” which you can watch above, and sounded ridiculous(ly good) as per us(ual). Maybe there’s a speaker in her mouth and she’s not actually singing. Just throwing that conspiracy theory out there.

[Vulture]

3! The cutest music video ever about ~being yourself~

Have you heard of the Colombian band Bomba Estereo? I had not, but now I’m so glad I’ve been introduced. Because apparently they asked their fans to submit video ideas for their single “Soy Yo” (which is very popular A.K.A. I am out of the loop) and the above was born. It was shot in Brooklyn! WATCH IT PLEASE!!!!! And care for yourself.
